Decision making made easy
We all have to make numerous decisions every day but some people find it much easier than others. What decision are you struggling with at the moment? What decision have you been putting off because no matter how hard you try you can't decide what to do? It might be something relatively insignificant like what to have for lunch or it could be a "biggie" like whether to change your job. What would it be worth to you if I could teach you a simple technique for making decisions quickly and easily? Well, try this one ... Before I start, please, please do this exercise - don't just read it - it is really easy and it will be worth it! Firstly, write down the decision you are struggling with and then write 2 possible choices that you could make. (Ideally you want to only give yourself 2 options but if you have more than 2 possible choices write them all down and work through this exercise with 2 options at a time until you get down to 2 final choices). Next to one of the two options write "A" and next to the other write "B". Get a coin out of your purse, wallet or pocket. In a moment you are going to toss the coin and if it lands on heads you are going to take option A and if it lands on tails then you are going to take option B. Before you toss the coin, however, I want you to whole-heartedly commit that you will abide by the decision of fate, in this case indicated by which way the coin lands. Just out of interest, before we go any further, which way do you hope it's going to land, heads or tails? Put a tick, asterisk or some other mark next to option A or B. OK, so it's now the moment of truth, get ready to flip that coin ............................................. GO FOR IT! So which way did it land? Heads? Tails? How do you feel about that, knowing you must abide by the decision of fate? Excited ... disappointed ... pleased ... upset? Tempted to try for the best of 3? I'll now let you into a little secret. The way you felt before you tossed the coin (when you decided whether you wanted it to land heads or tails) and the way you feel now, afterwards, tell you everything you need to know about what you really want to do. With this new insight into your real feelings about the decision there is no longer any need to leave the decision to fate, you can now take back control and make the decision that you wanted to all along! I hope you find this useful and are now planning to make all of those overdue decisions.
